Walmart Marketplace onboarding for Amazon and Shopify brands
Walmart Marketplace asks sellers for a business tax ID (SSN not accepted), documents verifying the business name and address, a history of marketplace or ecommerce success, products with GS1 barcodes, a compliant catalog, and fulfillment through WFS or a US warehouse that handles returns. Channel Stride checks each requirement, prepares the application and launches your catalog. Walmart decides approval.
Who Walmart Marketplace fits
We see the best fit for brands in these categories:
- Tools and home improvement
- Pet
- Home and outdoor
- Auto accessories, such as organizers, covers, mats and cleaning tools
- Home and kitchen
The brand needs a real catalog, barcodes it owns and reliable fulfillment. If Walmart isn't a fit for you yet, we say so.
Walmart's seller requirements
Walmart lists these minimum qualifications on its Getting started page and its seller registration guide:
- A business tax ID or business license number. Walmart does not accept an SSN.
- Supporting documents that verify your business name and address.
- A history of marketplace or ecommerce success.
- Products with GTIN or UPC barcodes from a GS1 company prefix.
- A catalog that complies with the Walmart Prohibited Products Policy.
- Fulfillment through Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS) or another US warehouse that ships to consumers, handles returns and can meet Walmart's Seller Performance Standards.
- An account with Marketplace Wallet or a third party payment provider.
Walmart can change these requirements, so we recheck them for every application. On its Sell on Walmart page, Walmart says there are no monthly or setup fees and that you pay a referral fee when you make a sale. Walmart says referral fees vary by category.
How Channel Stride launches you on Walmart
- Discovery call. We learn your catalog, channels and goals.
- Readiness check. We check your business against each Walmart requirement, including your GS1 barcodes and fulfillment.
- Application and verification. We prepare your application. Your business details must match your IRS records exactly. You submit the applicant's own government ID.
- Account setup and catalog launch. We set up payouts, shipping and returns, map your Amazon or Shopify catalog with its barcodes, variants and attributes, and connect the integration.
- Optimize and grow. We improve titles and keywords, run sponsored ads and send you a monthly report.
Every launch has a fixed scope, agreed before we start.
What you provide

How long it takes
Walmart says business verification can take from a few minutes to two business days (source). Walmart does not publish a timeline for the full review, so we don't guess. After the call, we give you a written timeline for the work we control.
What we can and can't promise
No one can guarantee Walmart approval. Walmart decides. We promise a complete, accurate application, a catalog built to Walmart's standards and fast fixes when Walmart asks for changes.
