Amazon to Walmart Expansion, Done With You

Expanding from Amazon to Walmart means meeting Walmart's seller qualifications, rebuilding listings for Walmart's catalog and search, and choosing Walmart Fulfillment Services or your own US warehouse. Channel Stride maps your Amazon catalog to Walmart, prepares the application and handles listing, fulfillment setup and advertising launch. Walmart approves every seller.

Why Amazon sellers look at Walmart next

Walmart Marketplace is an open application marketplace with its own shoppers, search and fulfillment network. For a brand already running on Amazon, much of the groundwork exists: product data, images, identifiers and a sales history. The work is in translating that groundwork to Walmart's rules rather than starting over.

What Walmart asks of new sellers

Walmart lists these minimum qualifications (source):

  • a business tax ID, since Walmart does not accept an SSN, or a business license number
  • documents verifying your business name and address
  • a history of marketplace or ecommerce success
  • products with GTIN or UPC numbers from a GS1 company prefix
  • a catalog that complies with Walmart's prohibited products policy
  • fulfillment through Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS) or another US warehouse that ships to consumers and handles returns
  • an account with a compatible payment processor

What changes when you move from Amazon to Walmart

  • Identifiers: Walmart asks for GTINs or UPCs from a GS1 company prefix. Amazon brands that relied on an exemption or reseller codes need to check this first.
  • Content: Walmart's Seller Success Formula stresses complete assortment, high quality listings, competitive pricing, fast free shipping and advertising visibility. Amazon copy rarely transfers word for word.
  • Fulfillment: Walmart lists two routes: WFS, which Walmart says has no inventory minimums or maximums, or another US warehouse that ships to consumers and handles returns. FBA is not one of the listed routes, so we plan this early.
  • Advertising: Walmart Connect Sponsored Search replaces Amazon Sponsored Products and needs its own campaign structure.

FAQ

Can I use my Amazon listings on Walmart?

You can reuse your product data, images and identifiers, but listings should be rebuilt for Walmart's attributes and search. Walmart also expects products with GTIN or UPC numbers from a GS1 company prefix.

Can Amazon FBA fulfill my Walmart orders?

Walmart lists two fulfillment routes: Walmart Fulfillment Services or another US warehouse that ships to consumers and handles returns. We help you choose and set up the option that fits your operations.

Do I need sales history to get approved on Walmart?

Walmart lists a history of marketplace or ecommerce success among its qualifications. An established Amazon account usually serves as that history, but Walmart makes the final decision.

How is this different from your Walmart Marketplace page?

The Walmart page explains the channel. This service is the step by step move from an existing Amazon catalog, covering the data mapping, fulfillment change and advertising rebuild.

Will Channel Stride guarantee Walmart approval?

No. Walmart reviews and approves every seller. We make sure your application and catalog meet Walmart's published requirements before you apply.
